Answers to the Most Common Questions

The University of Florida women's rugby team practices at Hume Field, southwest of Hume Hall on campus. Sessions run Monday 6–8pm, Wednesday 6–8pm and Thursday 8–9pm. Parking is available at Garage 8 or Flavet Field, and new players are welcome to attend any session.

The University of Florida women's rugby team are back-to-back Florida State Champions and won the 2026 CRC Division 1AA Shield. The club has competed since 1975 and now has more than fifty years of history at the university.

Yes. The University of Florida women's rugby club describes itself as a space for women and gender nonconforming athletes, and takes players at every experience level. Most players arrive without rugby experience. The team combines that openness with a competitive record including back-to-back Florida State Championships.

No. The University of Florida women's rugby team accepts players who have never played rugby, and much of every roster starts that way. Coaches teach fundamentals first — how to fall, how to tackle safely — and no player enters a match before they're ready.

Complete the player interest form on gatorsrugby.com or attend a practice at Hume Field on a Monday, Wednesday or Thursday evening. The women's program takes new players throughout the year, and a coach follows up on every interest form submission.
